MINNIE FORTE, a
Special Instructor in Speech in the Department of English at NCCU, was
elected Chair of the Durham School Board on Thursday, July 13, 2006
Forte grew up a few
blocks from NCCU and attended the Child Development Lab on campus
while her mother, who earned her Master’s and Ph.D. degrees at NCCU,
became well known as a master teacher at the university. Such a strong
family heritage in education led Forte to be extraordinarily
passionate about her own work with NCCU students today.
Forte is a 1966 graduate of Hillside High in Durham, NC. She received
her bachelor’s degree in speech and English from Saint Augustine’s
College and earned her master’s degree in education in speech
pathology and audiology from NCCU.
