WASHINGTON, DC
- Harry Williams was born in Lenoir, NC. He is the youngest of eight
(8) children, (4 boys and 4 girls). He was introduced to the trumpet
in the 7th grade and has played it ever since.
After graduating from high school in 1963, he matriculated at NCC in
Durham North Carolina (currently NCCU) and majored in Instrumental
Music. He graduated in 1967 and entered NCC’s graduate school and
completed a Music Education degree in 1972.
After leaving NCC he moved to the Washington DC area. He has
worked in the DC Public Schools from 1975- 19'77, the Federal
Government 1978 - 1979, and the DC Government from 1980 - 1995. He has
also worked as an Adult Educational Consultant for some Non Profits
Agencies in the Washington area and he was a Visiting Instructor at
George Washington University’s Law Enforcement College.
Currently he works for the DC Metropolitan Police Department at the
Maurice Turner Institute Of Police Science in the Human Resource Area.
He has travel internationally playing with many groups and musical
acts. In the DC area, he performed in many venues from the Kennedy
Center to Fort. DuPont as well as numerous churches and clubs.
His musical energy and focus at this point is to bring together
talented musicians who lead their own musical groups for special
affairs and this collaboration has lead to the creation of the
"Harry Williams' Project".
The Harry Williams' Project will provided the entertainment for
the NCCU DC Alumni Chapter’s Maroon and Gray Gala on Saturday, April
26, 2008 at the LaFontaine Bleu Ballroom from 8 pm until 1 am.
