Los Angeles – Broadway Federal Bank hosted an unveiling of Ernie Barnes’ latest painting, “Grandma’s Hands” at the Nate Holden performing Arts Center in Mid – City Los Angeles on November 18, 2008.

Sing/Songwriter Bill Withers commissioned legendary artist Ernie Barnes to capture the lyrics of Withers’ 1971 Hit Song, “Grandma’s Hands” on canvas.  While discussing the commission, Barnes was inspired to paint another painting, “Angel in Training”.  This painting came to fruition based on the concept that Grandmas are angels in training.

Mr. Barnes and Mr. Withers shared with an audience of over two hundred guest the collaboration process that takes place between artist and patron.  After the unveiling, Mr. Barnes and Mr. Withers answered question from the audience and shard stories about their friendship and experiences.  Paul C.
